Makeup:

Too Faced “Absolutely Invisible” Translucent Pressed Powder Comes in a lovely case.  Works great for mattifying shiny foundation and all-day touch-ups.  Not sparkly or cakey like some pressed powders. Cost: $27    Available at:  Sephora, Ulta, amazon.com, beauty.com, select military exchanges

Benefit “Erase Paste” Great under-eye concealer.  Diminishes appearance of dark circles.  Blends into skin nicely.  A little goes a long way.  Can buy alone or buy the “Confessions of a Concealaholic” Kit for $36 and get it with a brightening primer & 4 other concealer/brightener products Cost:  $26    Available at:  Sephora, Ulta, Macy’s, benefitcosmetics.com, amazon.com, beauty.com

Benefit “High Beam” This product – when applied to high cheekbone/around eye area – makes you look a little prettier.  I don’t know how else to explain it.  It’s like blush, only better.  This product is sold individually and within Benefit kits. Cost:  $24   Available at: Ulta, Sephora, Macy’s, benefitcosmetics.com, amazon.com, beauty.com

NYX Lip Liners Great deal for a quality product.  Colors are very close to those shown on the pencil’s end.  They sharpen well and go on smoothly.  Note: I apply lip balm before liner, which might help it go on better. Cost: Under $4   Available at: Ulta, various mass merchandisers

Revlon 12-Hour Eyeshadow Quad This 4-color eyeshadow set comes in at least a dozen varietys of coordinated colors. They go on well. If you want them darker, apply them in 2 layers (I recommend using a brush, not the applicators that come in the set – they’re VERY small!). Color stays on all day. Cost:  Under $7   Available at:  Ulta, mass merchandisers

Eco Tools Makeup Brushes These brushes are amazing for several reasons.  1 – They’re made of eco-friendly bamboo, recycled metal, and cruelty-free bristles.  2 – They cost WAY less than many other brands.  3- They work great.  Brushes come in every variety you could possibly need (REALLY love the eyeliner brush – works great with gel/cream eyeliner). Cost: Varies by type, $4 (individual) to $20 (sets)    Available at:  Ulta, Target

Too Faced Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer:  Helps prevent creasing, improves appearance of eyelids even without eye shadow.  Available in several “formulas”.  Cost:  $18  Available at:  toofaced.com, Ulta, Sephora, beauty.com

Japonesque Brush Cleaner:  Works very well.  Dries quickly.  Smells nice.  Paraben-free.  Cost:  $12.  Available at:  Ulta

Hair:

Tigi Headrush Hairspray  Adds a nice shine to hair. Smells nice.  Cost: approx $15    Available at: Ulta, Wal Mart salons, amazon.com, select Target stores

Tigi Rockaholic Dry Shampoo   Great for getting an extra day out of your hairstyle, or on days you want to give your hair a break. Also good to have on hand for those times you accidentally put too much “product” in your hair, or don’t get all the conditioner out but realize it when you’re halfway into blow-drying.   Cost: approx $15    Available at: Ulta, WalMart salons, amazon.com

Garnier Anti-Dandruff/Dry Scalp Shampoo   Finally, a nice-smelling dandruff shampoo. Also good for dry, itchy scalp. Doesn’t “over moisturize” and leave hair feeling weighed down.   Cost: under $5    Available at: Wal Mart, Target, etc.

Paul Mitchell Smoothing “Straight Works”   This serum works great when applied to towel-dried hair. It really helps with straightening while blow-drying. Gives your hair a nice, manageable texture.   Cost: approx $18    Available at: Ulta (not online), select hair salons, amazon.com

Got 2 B “Guardian Angel” Heat Protect & Flatten   Great product if you flat-iron your hair. When sprayed onto hair before flat-ironing, it helps smooth hair and gives you a better finished look. Plus, it smells better than heated-up hair alone.   Cost: approx $8    Available at: Ulta (not online), Wal Mart, Target

Herbal Essences “Tousle Me Softly” Finishing Touch Cream and/or Mousse   If you have wavy/curly hair, this product is good for helping your waves/curls keep their shape throughout the day. Also helps a little with frizz control. These products also smell better than some of their competitor’s counterparts.   Cost: under $4    Available at: mass merchandisers

Sultra “Seductress” Curl/Wave/Flat Iron   This is one of the most expensive things I’ll ever recommend.  It just so happens that I won it in a drawing, and it’s the best thing I’ve ever won.  It uses all the latest flat iron technology to give you great results.  It heats up super fast and comes with a protective mat and cord wrap for easy storage.  Cost:  $195-$210  Available at:  Sephora, Nordstrom, Sultra.com, amazon.com

L’Oreal EverSleek Finishing Creme:   Adds shine and smoothness to hair.  Helps control frizz. Cost:  $6 – $8  Available at:  drugstores, mass merchandisers, Ulta, drugstore.com

Skin:

Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser   This great-smelling cleanser works wonderfully at removing makeup.  It can be used alone or on a dampened face.  Since it’s from Burt’s Bees, you know it doesn’t have all kinds of chemical additives, so you can feel good about using it, too. Cost: $8  Available at:  Target, WalMart, Ulta, drugstore.com

Origins Zero Oil Deep Pore Cleanser:  This foaming cleanser works great and removing makeup.  Leaves skin looking/feeling clean and refreshed.  Cost:  $19.50.  Available at:  Origins, Sephora, beauty.com

Jack Black Natural Mint Lip Balm  Best lip balm I’ve ever tried.  I bought it because I was shopping in the mall and REALLY needed lip balm.  Sephora was the only store that sold any, and my lips were so irritated, I was willing to over-pay for it. Now I’m hooked. Has a great “flavor” and works really well.  Note: The “vanilla/lavender” variety is VERY heavy on lavender.  So, if you don’t like the taste of flowers, just stick with the natural mint variety.  Cost: $7 .50  Available at:  Sephora, Ulta, amazon.com, beauty.com, select military exchange stores

StriVectin SD Concentrate for Stretch Marks & Wrinkles  Believe the hype!  This stuff really works.  No, it doesn’t erase wrinkles.  But, it does soften them, making them less noticeable.  It takes a couple weeks to really see improvement, though.  I was able to get a sample bottle at their website to try it, and was really impressed.  (Don’t know how it works on stretch marks, only used it on wrinkles)  Their “neck cream” offers similar results, but it’s not quite as impressive.  Cost:  Crazy expensive  (sometimes you can find it at Marshall’s/TJ Maxx at a significant discount)   Available at: Costco (best price, large amount), Sephora, Ulta, amazon.com, beauty.com

Bath & Body Works “Look Ma, New Hands” hand lotion  This hand lotion is one of the best I’ve ever used.  It really moisturizes and smells nice.  When you can get it on sale (or with a coupon), it’s worth it. (Unfortunately, it’s not paraben-free.) Cost: $12 for 2.5 oz  $18.50 for 5 oz   Available at:  Bath & Body Works, select military exchange stores

Bath & Body Works “Shea It Isn’t So” foot lotion  Great foot lotion.  Non-irritating, absorbs well and moisturizes wonderfully.  Cost: $15 for 4 oz  $20 for 8 oz  Available at:  Bath & Body Works, select military exchange stores

Josie Maran “Bear Naked” Face Cleansing Wipes  Made without petrochemicals and other nasty stuff, these pre-moistened wipes smell great, remove makeup well, and leave skin feeling soft.  (unlike most face wipes)  They contain argan oil, the new must-have product for skin.  Additionally, $1 from the sale of each package is donated to help save polar bears.   Cost:  $12 for package of 30    Available at:  Sephora

Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Lotion  This lotion works well and is non-irritating, It has a clean, fresh scent.  I like to use it after shaving my legs.  (Note: Contains parabens.) Cost:  approx $10 for a huge pump bottle   Available at:  mass merchandisers

Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing System  This is a pretty expensive thing to buy.  However, if you wear makeup every day or have problem skin, it might be worth the investment.  It really does a better job of cleaning your skin than just washing.  It only takes a couple minutes out of your day, and your skin will feel great when you’re done (it’s kind of like a face massage!)   The “Mia” comes in a good variety of colors and is a bit more budget-friendly.  I got the “classic” because it comes with a rechargeable base.  Cost:  $100-$250 (varies by which model you buy and where you buy it)   Available at:  various online retailers, Sephora, Ulta

Josie Maran Argan Oil:  Great multi-purpose product for hair and skin.  It’s 100% organic argan oil.  Cost:  $16  Available at: Sephora.
