Review: Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm

I love the idea of beauty balms.  The whole multi-purpose thing just makes sense.  I’m kind of lazy with my beauty regimen at times and love anything that takes “steps” out of the process.  Too Faced makes some of my favorite products, so I was excited to try this one…

Pros:  Oil-free.  Contains anti-aging ingredients.  Hydrates.  Hypo-allergenic.  Broad-spectrum SPF 20.  Comes in 4 shades.

Cons:  Contains parabens.  A little “heavy” (feels kind of like foundation).  The effect of the “light-diffusing pigments” that the packaging advertised is barely noticeable.  Expensive.

In Summary:  This is a pretty good product if you have pretty good skin.  It doesn’t provide much coverage and doesn’t do much to even skin tone.  If you’re going to be outside and don’t want to wear makeup, it could be a good alternative.  I can see where someone else would like it, but I’m not in love with it.  I’d rather use a good moisturizer with SPF (like Aveeno “Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer” – read review here: and use some bronzer or a tinted primer if I want some color.  (Hey, I’m not as lazy as I thought!)  Or I could just buy the tinted version of the moisturizer.  At any rate, I definitely don’t like it enough to excuse the fact that it contains parabens and costs $32.

Rating:  3.5 out of 5 stars

Price:  $32 for 1.5 oz.

Available at:, Ulta, Sephora,, various online retailers
