Quick Rundown: Dry Shampoo Reviews

I think dry shampoo is an essential item.  It serves a couple purposes:  Fixing your hair’s appearance when you’ve added too many styling products (or a bad conditioner) and making your hair look cleaner when you can’t wash it.  (And who among us hasn’t woken up so horribly late that they didn’t have time to take a shower?)  Here’s a quick summary of the dry shampoos I’ve tried and what I thought of them…

Not Your Mother's Dry ShampooNot Your Mother’s (approx. $6 for 7 oz.)

Pros:  Inexpensive.  Smells good.  Works great.

Cons:  It’s white, so blending it into darker hair colors can be tricky.  It’s a big bottle, so it might not fit into your medicine cabinet.

Rating:  5 out of 5 stars   5-stars

oscar blandi dry shampooOscar Blandi “Pronto”  (approx. $11 for 1 oz.)

Pros:  Works well.  Safe for air travel because it’s not an aerosol.

Cons:  Expensive. White.  The powder can get messy if you’re not careful. (It also comes in a spray.)

Rating:  3 out of 5 stars   3-stars

salon grafix dry shampooSalon Grafix “Invisible” (approx. $6 for 4 oz.)

Pros:  Inexpensive.

Cons:  Smells like cheap hairspray.  Isn’t dry when it comes out.  Doesn’t work as well as others.

Rating:  1 out of 5 stars   1-star

  1. I was actually in need of a dry shampoo this weekend and I was totally thinking, what would Bridgett do?

    • Supposedly, you can make your own with cornstarch or something. You can probably find a recipe online. Before they sold dry shampoo in stores, I used baby powder (which I no longer have handy, since my kids aren’t babies!). I recommend picking up a bottle of the “Not Your Mother’s” one. They sell it at WalMart (and Ulta – you can use the coupon from the FB blog page! 🙂

      • Awesome. I was thinking that you had said you used baby powder before but I was scared to try it. Since I run so much, it normally isn’t an issue but it would come in handy! I will definitely grab the coupon code. Thanks!
