Shopping Tip: Go Beyond Coupons

We live in the 21st century.  Unfortunately, if you want to know about ALL of the deals, this means embracing social media and giving out our information.  It’s a little annoying, but it may be worth the hassle if you want to get every bargain you can…

Join the Club:  If a beauty store has a (free) club you can join, it might be worth it.  Even if you don’t think you’ll get benefits, (like those programs where you have to spend $100 every quarter to get a reward) signing up might give you access to members-only deals and coupons.

Sign up for e-mails:  One of the best ways to find out about sales and special offers is to sign up to receive e-mails.  If you get lots of e-mail already, make sure you don’t sign up for “partner” e-mails.  Sometimes this is an option at sign-up.

“Like” on Facebook:  Stores like Sephora and Ulta have deals that are only posted on Facebook.  Sometimes they’re one-day-only deals, sometimes not.  If you have a beauty website you like to shop at, you should “like” them on Facebook to make sure you’re getting access to all their bargains.

“Follow” on Twitter:  It’s the same as Facebook.  Sometimes deals and coupons are posted only on Twitter.  Sometimes there are special Twitter-only sweepstakes you can enter, as well.

Cash-Back Programs:  Sites like Ebates and FatWallet can get you cash back when you shop at your favorite beauty websites.  Sometimes they have members-only coupons as well.  At certain times of the year, the cash back can be double for some of the sites, so sign up for e-mails to find out when these offers are available.

In Summary:  Using social media and e-mail signups can be a great way to find out about deals you might never hear about otherwise. If you’re worried about getting lots of junk e-mail as a result of signing up, just set up a free e-mail account for this purpose only.
